I installed the Viper 160XV in my 2005 Legacy about 5 years ago and it has worked perfectly ever since until now! Last week it got super cold here (-30) which pretty much killed an already dieing battery.
I installed a new battery and that's when I noticed some goofy things. The LED light for the unit would just blink whenever it wanted to, and once when I was driving down the road it just started flashing my parking lights for no reason.
Now the unit seems completely dead. I've tried both remotes, put new batteries in both but nothing. It won't respond to door lock/unlock, won't start, LED won't light up. This is as far as I got, the unit is burned up in the dash so I'll have to tear it apart this weekend and check fuses/power.
Any idea what could cause this? I just find it really strange it works great for 5 years then once my battery dies the remote starter dies as well. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I've had some dei products act funny after customers get a new battery. Unplug the main harness of the brain and plug it back in. Should take care of it

So after 2 days of the unit acting completely dead, I started my car the normal way and drove about 100 feet down the road when it started flashing my parking lights again on/off for about 5-10 seconds.
Anyways I unplugged everything going to the brain for a good 30-45 min. I checked all fuses and made sure 12V constant and switched power was there. Everything checked out fine. I plugged everything back in and it still acts completely dead.
Anything else to try?

Try taking the WHITE/ Blue wire on the 160xv , (-) Start Activation, and tap it to ground the default number of times programmed. This could be 1,2,or 3 times in sequence depending on how the units programmed.
If this engages remote start you know there is a issue with the remote/antenna. Try reprogramming the remotes and possibly the unit to your desired settings. The dead battery possibly made the 160xv lose its memory. A simple lock/unlock command once the remotes are programmed may eliminate your problems.
I drink current, eat ohms, and bleed voltage
