Does your radio stay on after you turn off the key?
Your alarm does have an output that grounds when the alarm is armed. The only problem is that you would have to use this wire to trigger a relay. The 160 milliamp of current draw to keep the relay energized will run your battery down if you do not drive the car everyday.

If it's a factory unit it should shut down on door lock. We need specifics, OEM or what brand aftermarket?
Also of course make model and year of vehicle.

A 96 Golf is a Mkll.
Mkl went to about 85.If it is a Mklll you've wired the stereo wrong.
A Mkll should have a thin brown red as your ACC.
Goes to red. The Red feed goes to your yellow.
If it is a Mk1 Mr.Idiot's relay comments apply because there's no ACC with either a Mkl or a Mk11 and you've no option but to turn off the radio or remove the fascia.

It can't be correct if it doesn't turn off with ignition and you have a 96 Mkll.
If it does turn off with ignition, why post the original question?
End of.

Yellow and red is together..headunit is on when switching ignition off, that's what I want.reason for the Question is,I saw a few quys leaving their sound on,and when they get out and arm their car the alarm arms, windows goes up and and headunit goes off.I think that is fatory but I was just wondering if it can be done like that on aftermarket.I know how to switch my hu off and I know how to connect it to switch off with ignition..I was just wondering if there is a trick of doing it like in my Question..
Kin regards
