Hi. Currently I'm running a kenwood KDC-bt855u head unit and alpine type S components in all four doors of my 06 suzuki reno hatchback. They're being run by an old MA audio 4 Channel amp. I think the model is HC504. Did some looking and found some specs on the amp
4 Ohm - 4x50w
2 Ohm - 4x90w
1 Ohm - 4x150w
.5 Ohm - 4x250w
Specs on the type s speakers are
CEA-2031 Power Rating: 80 Watts
Power Handling Capacity (RMS): 80 Watts
Power Handling Capacity (Peak): 240 Watts
I'm getting some crackling in the speakers and the amp won't always start up right away. Taking up to 10 mins to get going. I figured the amp is going. Hoping it's not the speakers. After seeing the specks It looks like the amp doesn't put out enough power for these speakers. I'm looking to replace the amp with something that can run the speakers and put out some nice clean sound, and here's the catch, on a tight budget lol. I've looked into a few amps. The hifonics Zeus zrx600.4. the massive audio NX4. The precision power i520.4. Also there a zapco studio x series st4x. All around the same price. I'm really not sure which way to go. I've searched the net and found reviews both good and bad. Looking for any suggestions on what might be a good amp to power my system. Thanks for any help and suggestions.
