I did a remote start in a 2003 toyota camry now i have connected all my ignition wires and my starter 1 and number 2,but the check engine light comes on only when the key is in the crank position during key takeover. While this happens the wheel gets stiff so to get it back i have to turn the car off then start again. If i never put the key to the start position while remote started everything is ok.I powerd my second starter wire through a 6 amp diode off the main starter wire. I think this may be my problem. I should have used a relay but was in A RUSH... PLEASE HELP.. AGAIN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ONLY ON IF I TURN KEY TO START POSITION WHILE REMOTE STARTED.

I've never heard of this problem before. But I once did an Altima with 2 starter wires and I only powered up the main wire. The engine started but ran very rough. I wired up a second relay to the other starter wire and everything was fine. I'd try wiring up a second relay and see if that helps. Or...you could be right also about the computer error code. All these new cars are so damn computerized its ridiculous!!! Didnt you have to bypass the factory security immobilizer? Maybe trying to put the key in to turn it on and the security computer is getting mixed siganls because its already running even though it should not be without the key. Anyone else ever did a remote start on a new camry?????

this model had no immobilizer, CutDog. i never interupted the 2nd starter while remote started, so with the key in the crank position the second starter would get power even though the car is running. so this leads me to believe that it is a computer error code which i dont think matters to much as long at the key is turned only to ignition when taking over from remote start. does any one have any idea on what is causing this?

Just stop turning the key to the crank position when the vehicle is remote started...or interrupt both starter wires.
