The other day I did an install on a 2008 Jeep patriot with premium sound. I used a XSVI-6502 harness from Metra and installed a Jensen VX7020. However I was unable to get audio. I called Axxess and after checking the remote wire from the aftermarket radio, the output of the xxvi, and the car side of the factory harness (all were around 11.58V) he had me plug the factory radio in, turn the car on, unplug the OEM radio, and lastly plug the aftermarket unit in. It worked first time! Unfortunately I received a call yesterday morning from the customer and there is no audio, he husband tried the procedure before they even called me and audio came back they turned the car off and back on and no more audio. I called Axxess again and they told me to step up the remote wire with a relay which is fine, but I can't help but to think theres got to be something more going on here. I know the voltage is pretty high to be a data signal, the remote wire reads the same voltage +-.06 whether the OEM radio is in or the Jensen….It is the Boston Acoustic System so if at all possible I would like to avoid bypassing the amp and before I have the customer come down to try the relay I wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar problem and what the fix was. And I also tried the old Jeep procedure to reset the Can's close the door open the door lock the door wait for the dome light…etc.,. Any help would be wonderful and much appreciated, thanks!

You have to use a Harness that will turn the amp on. The amp uses a digital signal to turn it on. Pac-Audio.com C2RCHY4 is their harness that will do what you need. Metra offers 3 different harnesses in which 1 should work for you. But they do not have one listed for the vehicle. CHTO-1 2 or 3. Chrysler Turn On

I personally use the PAC for all those amplified CANBUS radios from Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler. The C2R-CHY4 is the proper one you want to use if you want to replace the Axxess module. At least you won't have the customer calling you back telling you the radio is on but no audio.

I also used the CHTO-13 which on the Axxess packaging say Amp Turn On....with the same results.
