Hello,
I've scoured the forum for an answer, to no avail. here goes!
2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Avital 4013 Remote Starter
DBALL2 bypass unit (Flashed with xloader2 for the Jeep)
I've connected all with the intention of using D2D connection.
I hit the start on the FOB, the jeep fires up, runs for 1 second and shuts off. The DBALL unit is showing flashing green. (GROUND OUT ON (GWR)
command received. as shown on the DIRECTED installation guide).
What next? Ive tried resetting the Avital unit to D2D mode. I've tried manually connecting the status connection between the Avital and Dball units. No luck.
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.. I am hoping to get this completed for my wife before Christmas day! :) If i've left anything out, please do let me know and I'll include.
Thanks,
Chris

Did the DB-ALL2 respond correctly during programming?

Ive tried resetting the Avital unit to D2D mode.    Did you do something like this?

To use as D2D mode follow the below steps:

1. Remove all power from the Avital R/S brain.
2. Make sure Avital's WHITE/ Blue activation wire is grounded.
3. Power the unit up. The system LED flashes for 5 seconds to confirm D2D mode change.
4. Remove the WHITE/ Blue wire from ground.  ( Do this cleanly, without pulsing the WHITE/ Blue wire.)

Here is a link to a Pictorial on that vehicle :  https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=137527

Different bypass and R/S but all the ignition wires, etc are shown.

Soldering is fun!

Resetting to D2D mode: Yes, these are precisely the instructions I followed. I will attempt this again.
In reviewing this pictorial on the 99 JGCherokee, I notice that the pictorial shows the Yellow/Violet wire on the Transponder harness is the J1850 data wire, where as the DBALL2 manual says to tap the Pin2 wire on the OBDII connector! Which is it!? :) 99-2004 GCherokees should have identical wiring I believe.
4103 programming tach: I have not done this at all, I will give this a go and report back.
Thanks for this!

Re : changing the Avital 4103 4 Pin port mode.  Go by the LED.  If it flashes, you are now in D2D mode, if it comes on steady, it's in ESP / BitWriter Mode.

Like vehicle CAN wires, the J1850 data wire goes all over the vehicle and can be found in different locations.  Either location should be viable but if you are using a DB-ALL2 follow its' guide.

Got it, yep the Avital unit was flashing. Definitely in D2D mode. Is the tach programming my issue?

I usually go W2W.  I have heard that data Tach can be problematic.  Think I would make sure the 4103 is programmed for Tach Mode ( Menu 2, Item 1, Option 4 ), make a hardwire connection between the DB-ALL2 Tach Output wire to the 4103 Tach Input wire and then do a Tach Learn.  That should eliminate any problems and provide solid Tach Mode operation.

If you haven't set to tach mode and tried to learn it then that is deffinetly part of the problem in my opinion.   Try data tach first either it will learn it or it won't
I have only had one vehicle where I had an issue with the data tach but I can't remember what it was, deffinetly wasn't a jeep
