Installing cd player in 87 s-10

Hey, I'm installing an aiwa xc227??? (or something like that) in an s-10 my Dad picked up real cheap and I'm driving while I'm waiting to get a new rear end for my dakota. This should have been simple except that the previous owner has jacked up the wiring. I want to go ahead and redo the wiring, but I don't know what to wire to. I have the adapters and all, the part that is jacked up is the part that goes under the dash. Any ideas as to where I can go to or get something to show me where to run the wires to make it right? I usually always use a multimeter to check connections but a test light would be safe if you don't own one on that style of vehicle.

A deck needs three things to actually TURN ON. Those three things are a constant +12V, a Ground, and an ACC wire which as you probably know, is switched power.

Those S-10's aren't that bad at all to rewire. You can tap right on to the wires at the steering column. You will find the wires to be fairly thick! I am going to take it for grantid that you already know how to find out what wire is what. But in the steering column, you will find those three important wires. Good luck.

Thanks, I thought that was all, but just wanted to check. I have a good multi meter, and my brother has a light tester if we need it. I'm usually pretty good at these things once I get going, I'm a cable technician so I learned most of the basics compliments of Time Warner. I just didn't want to screw things up worse than they are.
