I just purchased a 2013 Silverado LT Truck with factory remote start. I want to install a 2-way RM/Security for extended range and convenience of a 2-way remote that shows the status of the system.
Anybody installed a RS on a vehicle with factory RS? Also looking for wire info.
Thanks!!!

This vehicle is pretty simple to do, if you have the right parts. I would recommend using an idatalink ads-alca + remote starter of choice. My neighbour did a DIY on his 13 silverado, knocked it out under 2.5 hours for a first timer.
Buy a QUALITY remote starter, not some cheap ebay 2way unit for $25. Popular units on this forum tend to be Directed (viper, clifford, python, avital, etc) but keep your options open for Compustar as well.
I will post wiring later, once I get some time onto a computer.

thanks ted. i used to be an installer at circuit before they closed. i have done more rs installsthan i would like to remember over the years, but never on one that had factory rs. i didnt know if there was anything special to do besides a transponder bypass. i planned on a viper 2-way with lcd remote. i have installed 3 of them on my other vehicles and just let one go with the truck i just traded in. i was gonna remove it to use on the silverado, but i just didnt have the time for the removal.
is there a link to his diy? would def. help not having to hunt the wires from a data sheet alone.
any wire info for this truck? i dont have access to the dei website since i left. Isn't there a free site out there? any help appreciated!!

Factory remote start doesn't interfer with aftermarket remote starts on the Chev lines...now this isn't always the case with various other makes and models but you're safe to do an install as though it was even there :)
