Hello,

Could anyone help out with a Steering Wheel button interface on a 2000 SAAB 9-3?

To make a long story short, I am at the point where I have patched into the wire off the steering column which has varying resistance levels depending on what button is pushed (on the wheel). However, the SWI-X just flashes the left LED on and off when I try to program. This seems to be some general error. I have tried (per instruction) to program with mode 11 and many other modes.. all of them give me the same result. I have disconnected the white wire (to test the SWI for damage). The left LED does stay on when the white wire is disconnected (which supposedly means SWI is OK).

I notice that the resistance varies between 2-4 OHMS when the vehicle power is OFF. When I turn it on the steering wheel buttons jump up to about 20-25 OHMS of resistance. Could this be the problem? Not an electronics expert, so I'm not sure why I get that reading with the power on.

TIA for any help!

blk/yel wire in 22 pin connector at SID module. Tap SWI-X's white wire onto blk/yel wire. Program the SWI-X for version #11.
