I have 2 12" Alpine type R's. Model # SWR-1242D. They are 4 OHM dual voice coil. They handle 500W RMS Each. I have 2 Kenwood KAC9103D amps. Each amp puts out 500W RMS @ 4 ohm and 900w RMS @ 2 ohm. I would like to keep each sub at 4 ohm to get the 500w rms, instead of getting it down to 2 ohm and sending it 900w rms. How can i wire each sub to each amp so that they remain at 4 ohm? is this even possible? Am i better off just using 1 of the amps at 2 ohms?

Your options with those drivers are 2 ohm, 8 ohm, or use only 1 coil (not recommended) Those drivers are available in a dual 2 ohm configuration. With those you would be able to get 4 ohms per woofer.
