Hello, I just aquired a 01 Chevy suburban. The previous owner did a horrible job trying to install an aftermarket radio.  nothing works. he tried running new speaker wire directly from the head unit to the speakers.  Im pretty sure it has the factory amp and sub.  What adaptors do I need to connect the head unit to the amp?  And does anyone sell the factory connectors for the radio because he cut off one of the connectors. There are two connectors on the back of the stock radio. one was cut and the other is tucked up under the radio.  Thanks for any help

Does the connector you have tucked up have a pink wire on one end of it? If so, this is the factory amplifier turn on wire. All he had to do was power that wire to turn the amplifier on.

Thank you. Looks like the guy cut the wrong connector (the 9 pin) I get the adaptor for the 21 pin and rewire it. Thanks for the help. I'll report back with my results.

will a generic 2000+ radio harness adaptor work or will I need any special modules?  I've dove several radio installs but this is a first working on a vehicle that has a stock amp.

So there's no pink wire anywhere. The is a large ornge wire in the corner of the 21 pin connector. Is that the wire for the amp

I ran into a snag. There's a 20 pin connector the had 17 wires in it. But now I can't seem to find the 9 pin harness. I took apart the dash but I can't find any loose wired at all. Where does it usually come from?
