Hi guys, I really appreciate any ideas you can throw my way for this. I'm installing a avital 4103lx remote starter on a 2001 s10 2.2L automatic, and am using a Fortin Passlock SL2 v.2 bypass module.
All connections have been done with solder and heatshrink.
The Problem: remote start starts up engine, and then immediately dies. Security light flashes slowly. Remote starter tries 2 more times.
Two things that I just tried this morning:
1) change programming settings from virtual tach to analog input from coil wire at PCM (white wire, number 10 pin).
2) reprogram the passlock sl2. After starting the engine during programming, the LED flashes five times. Checking Fortins website, their troubleshooting guide says "programming may have been learned. Try remote start". Not very helpful.
Any thoughts? I really appreciate any input! Happy holidays!

Possibly a dumb question, but can you list your connections on the Passlock SL2?

Specifically the Blue and Yellow wires?

The Blue wire should go to the Avital's Dark Blue (-) Status Output.

The Yellow wire should go to the Avital thick Pink, which goes to the S10's Pink Ignition wire.

Soldering is fun!

Kreg, thanks for taking the time to reply. After all of that, I realized the wiring diagram I was using for reference was incorrect on the second ignition wire. On the 1998-2003 S10, I realize now that the second ignition wire on the remote start MUST be connected to a white, 18 gauge wire in the ignition harness.
I guess like most remote start issues, its simply a matter of making sure you are using a reliable source for a wiring diagram, and triple checking your connections, making no assumptions and being methodical.
Hopefully some other newbie finds this post helpful.
