I'd like to have my engine room LED lighting activate upon opening the hatch, hatch is opened by 2 electric ball screw rams. My thought was to us a Magnetic Reed Switch to do this. I understand the basics and have put a sketch together to accomplish this but not sure if this is the way to go, I'd greatly appreciate some feedback. By the way this site is great I've relied on it for my years to help me along the way.Switching LED's -- posted image. Switching LED's -- posted image. Switching LED's -- posted image. I've used magnetic reed switches before with varied degrees of success. I have one mounted to trigger my reverse lights. Placement is key to avoid any false activations.
I recommend to use a common part so if your switch ever does go bad, getting another is not a hassle.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

I bought 3 brand new Magnetic Switches (like you suggested) made by GE for commercial use, got'em real cheap so couldn't pass up 3 of them. Their N/O-N/C 3 contact units. I think I'll be good to go for awhile....Switching LED's -- posted image.
