I'm building a enclosure with mdf and fleece to be fiberglassed. I plan on prepping everything in order to finish with paint. I know that mdf sucks moisture in like a sponge so I was wondering how people are sealing mdf to make it paintable so I don't have to go through a trial & error process.

primer primer primer. or you could always glass over the mdf but i have always done heavy primer and a light sanding before painting. unless its for a boat then i always glass on top of using marine grade mdf.

Or use marine grade plywood instead. Though it depends on the circumstance(for yourself or a customer, what you're building, pressure involved, space, etc.)

*Update* I picked up some oil based rustoleum primer, applied it, and it took paint like a charm. Would never have thought to use a oil based primer prior to this project but it makes perfect sense now. I kind of feel like a idiot for not putting 2 & 2 together before.
