2006 Toyota Highlander, Remote Start Pictorial

Installed a Viper 4204 Remote start/Keyless Entry in a 2006 Toyota Highlander. This car did NOT have a transponder and did NOT have a Factory alarm. I did use a Expresskit XK01 for the door locks. Much easier than the relay/diode method. The XK01 was flashed with the TOYDL firmware. I think I wasted 90 minuets trying to access the wires for the relay/diode method. Took 6 minuets with the XK01 after flashing module. It does NOT require programing. Make connections and go. Lower Trim held on with two 10mm bolts on bottom, clips on top. Easily pulled away. OBD, Hood cable, and tire reset are easily removed. The metal bracket held on with three 10mm bolts. Lower portion of steering column cover held in with three Phillips screws. One the underside, two on each side of steering wheel. Drivers sill cover and drivers kick panel are removed by pulling to release the clips. Once these are removed, it is easy access to all the wires needed. Two constant 12 volts, two start wires, two Ignition, and one Accessory. Relay was used for 2nd starter. AS ALWAYS...test and verify ALL wires for their function prior to making connections. Lower trim panel, OBD connector and metal bracket. Screws on steering column clamshell. Ignition switch connector, and wires. Negative parking light wire is in this connector... Light Blue(-) Positive Brake wire in Drivers kick panel...Green (+) XK01 used for Lock/Unlock signal. Used on D2D port as only one wire is used. Used on Purple DATA wire coming out of drivers door. There were two purple wires in that bundle, the smaller gauge wire was used. Tach signal was obtained at the OBD connector. Black wire Pin 9. Rear defrost wire is in this connector... Pink (-) Latched. Key type that required no ByPass Module. Nice write up and great photos!   Toyota's always respond well to R/S upgrades.  Must be a Northeast thing, but almost every Toyota I get has an immobilizer system.Soldering is fun!
