I have some understanding of diodes, but obviously not enough! Any suggestion would be much appreciated. I have already install aftermarket door lock actuator. It is a 97 Ford Ranger.{/strong}{/SPAN}{/p}{div style="width:240px;border-bottom:1px solid #eeeeee;margin-top:10px;margin-bottom:0px;"}{/div}{span style="font-size:.70em;line-height:1.2em;color:#000000;"}--zx9r{/span}

hello a diode is used to allow a signal wether pos or neg to pass one way but not the other. a typical use for diodes whould be to use to connect two or more wires together yet keeping them seperate for things like door triggers. cause as you know there is only one wire on your crimestoppers. alarm for door triggers one positive and one negative. as well as a hood trunk wire or both but to connect lets say your ranger has two different triggers for the doors you have to diode isolate the two trigger together to have and output to that one wire on alarm., to do this is easy if the trigger is negative the side of the diode with the stripe fases where the negative source is comming from., and for possitive it fases away from where the source is comming from., but in your car i belive you have one wire a BLACK/ blue wire which is the domelight wire . but the car may have individual door trigger wires. and if your doing a remote start use a hood pin.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

Cool that helps, So if I understand you correctly It would be isolating each door lock actuator which I have added aftermarket, such as while i am unlocking or locking the doors. I really don't need the feature of unlocking just one door. If I am understanding you correctly. My biggest concern is if I am using a 12v wire coming out of the brain to a relay let's say, do I install a diode to protect the module or is there already diodes or protection in the relays. or does any of this make sense. I was trying not to let the somke!!!out of my module.
