Had a customer come in with a Kenworth semi, Kenwood deck, Memphis amp and 8" Bazooka tube, all installed by last owner. The Memphis mono amp was bad and he wanted an inexpensive replacement. Replacing with a Planet 1500 mono. When vehicle is off ground shows 0volt. When vehicle is on (amp is turned on) I am getting 8-10 volts on GROUND wire. There are 3 batteries directly under the amp and the 4 gauge wires are tied to them. Why am I getting voltage on ground when amp is powered on? Removed amp and tried on shop vehicle and powers/plays great. When amp is off no voltage to ground wire. Connected ground from battery to chassis and same issue. When simple test light is used to probe ground wire the amp tried to come on.

It is not grounded. You have a corroded wire, loose connection where it is grounded. Inspect the entire length of the wire and where it is connected. You should see something.

Stupid mistake. I should have run new leads. Just trying to swap amp quickly and found corroded lead on ground at terminal. Thanks "I am an idiot" for the advice and check me back to the basics.
