Hey guys....at a minor crossroad, and need help with a choice. Im extremely fond of all the oldie but goodies of car audio, and Ive kept my original JL audio 12w3 d4 in pristine shape since new way back when LOL.....
Well the outer foam is finally falling apart, So i was thinking of buying a complete rebuild kit for the sub. I only need the foam ring but figure it would be nice to have it all in stock in case of future damages.....
well that complete kit will run me $60. Like i said im fond of the older stuff, i think its just built really well etc....or i could buy a newer model woofer say in the 60-80 range.....
I was eyeballing a POLK Audio DB1240DVC its on sale for $69 at crutchfield and i think its similar in specs.........
so whats some opinions.....Repair the JL AUDIO 12W3 D4 or look to newer options?..(Oh yea, its also in a Sealed enclosure that is 1.08 cu ft).....as always Thanks for any input.......Tuna

that is a tough choice but i would go for just getting a new sub. nothing wrong with wanting to repair that old sub if its still in good shape except for the foam surround. the polk audio DB sub is a really good budget sub, very well made for the price and they sound good, ive been installing those subs for a decade and have never been disappointed by them.
