So, I am adding subs to a factory system in a 2017 Colorado. I have a pioneer GM-D8601 that I am going to run to 2 JL 10TW3-d4s.
The amp has line level input capability and signal sense, but I would still like to be able to have something like a remote gain (not just a bass boost knob)
The wire that comes with the amp, just puts the line level inputs straight into RCA and uses the gain in the amp to control the level.
So, should I use a line level controller before the RCA part, or use an RCA level controller. I will link the two options I am looking at.
RCA level controller http://www./itm/PAC-LC-1-Car-Bass-Amplifier-Remote-Level-Control-Knob-Stereo-RCA-Input-Output-/141707024856?epid=1789666435&hash=item20fe6599d8:g:ycIAAOSwMVdYD6zV&vxp=mtr
Line level controller http://www./itm/PAC-LC-2-Remote-Hi-Low-Line-Level-Controller-w-remote-volume-level-control-/391546112272?hash=item5b29f78910:g:6IsAAOSwMgdXxIYI

If you are using the lc1 you will also need an sni-15 or sni-35. The Lc2 is an sni-15 with a built in level control. From a monetary standpoint the lc-2 is the way to go.

I would like to keep it in the line level rage so that the amp will turn on without a remote wire.

Lc-2 converts speaker level to line level. Sounds like you are looking for a volume control that will work on speaker level. Why do you not want to use the remote turn on terminal?

If you are using line level signals the LC1 should do what you want.

cool, thanks for the help.
The main reason I am doing it this way is to leave the factory system as intact as possible until the warranty runs out.
