ive got a crimestopper cs2001. The thing gets hardly any range, where as some of my friends' alarms can be turned on/off from inside there house. The farthest away i can be is at most about 25 to 30 feet. Does anyone out there know of some sort of antenna i could buy to increase the range for my car alarm/keyless entry? or if its possible to do so? thanks a ton!

I've seen some but I think they were for DEI (directed alarms) I don't know if they would work with the crimestopper.

Obvious questions, has the range always been this bad? Did it start to decay after some time period or event like an accident? Have you tried checking all the connections to see if it's hooked up right?

It's also possible that the transmitter or recevier might be bad or just need a new battery.

nah, i just got it installed yesterday, and its always been only 20 feet or so.. do you think somethings in the way of the receiver or something? whats the average range sopose to be for an average alarm wtihout an antenna?

I have the same prob. with my rattler 300. I was thinking the installers were in a hurry installing it, so I checked for mysel. The antenna wire was all balled up and taped. I moved it and fixed it uo this helped. Maybe you should try moving it around. However I did not clamp it up good enough it well down when I hit a bump, and the prob came back. Haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.

I'd do what Anthony1 suggests, check the antenna wire, do a basic check to see if anything look obviously wrong or incorrectly hooked up and if that doesn't solve it then take it back and complain to the install shop. I don't know what the range should be w/o an antenna but your system should be working at better than 20-30 feet on open ground.

If you bought the system from the installers your in a better position for them to replace anything that might be faulty or if they broke something while installing it.

But if you can't seem to find the problem and fix it take it back to them asap.

thanks a ton guys, i did what anthony1 suggested and messed with the antenna wire, i get well over 200 feet of range now, thanks again!
