I'm having problems with the factory alarm on my 2004 Chevy suburban 2500 something is draining my battery and we went through everything possible to try to find the problem except for the alarm. It goes off sometimes when it's not even set. I'm almost positive that this is the problem but I don't know how to disable it. I was wondering if someone has a wire diagram to tell me what color wire to cut under the driver side door under the window control panel.

The only way to not arm the alarm is to manually slide the door latch to the lock position when closing the door. The alarm will arm if you use the factory remote to lock the doors or press the lock switch with the door open and then close the door. You should use a digital meter set up to measure current draw on the vehicle. The maximum allowable draw should be no more than 50ma. 50ma is still high but if you have many aftermarket devices it could be this high. The battery should be able to handle this for a few days without the vehicle running. A normal draw will be around 15ma. It is important to monitor the draw for a period of time as some systems on the vehicle won't go to sleep for about 10 - 20 minutes. Be sure the vehicle's battery is fully charged prior to testing. Use a tool to close the door latches closed to simulate them closed. This will access to the vehicle without changing your measurements. If the reading is higher than normal, you will need to start pulling fuses out to see if the draw goes away. Once the culprit fuse is found, each device on that circuit will need to disconnected one at a time to isolate the bad one. If the battery is weak or the battery terminals are corroded, that should be addressed first. The main chassis ground for the battery is next to the driver's side front tow hook. It is known to be poor. Take it off, clean the frame and 2 cable rings and reconnect. Ideally use a meter with a min/max setting and monitor it over a couple of hours.
