07 Chevrolet Colorado Avital 4105L Remote Start

Hey guys! So, I bought a remote start for my brother's 2007 Chevrolet Colorado for Christmas. We live up north and he starts work really early in the morning, so I thought it would really help him this winter. The problem I am having is I have never installed any alarm or remote system before, and I am a little overwhelmed with all these wires :). I have installed stereos and amplifiers for years, but those have all been pretty straight forward. I have a DMM, soldering gun, and I am somewhat familiar with automotive electronics, I just don't know which wires or harnesses need to be connected and which ones are non applicable to his truck. The bypass doesn't have any instructions and the only installation instructions to come with the Avital was a single page listing the unit's wire colors and corresponding function. I would really appreciate if you guys could help me with this install or maybe point me in the right direction. If you think it is too much for a novice, please tell me :). I like to do the work myself, but I understand there are some jobs that aren't worth the risk of a backyard mechanic :). The remote start unit is a Avital 4105L and the bypass module is a Directed DB3. His truck is a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado with passlock, keyless entry, & I'm pretty sure a factory alarm. I want to install the remote start and keyless entry. Thanks -Pedro

Awesome! Thank you! That is the information I was hoping to get in the installation manual :). So the other wires from the remote start unit that don't show up on the dball installation guide I should hard wire? Do all of them need to be connected somewhere? What about harnesses like the 'satellite' harness? It has starter, ignition, and accessory outputs. Are those the connections made to the dball 10 pin harness? Do I need to install any relays or diodes for any of the connections? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I cover all the bases. And no hurry on the reply. I've never used a data module, but if it were me, I'd connect it as the instructions in the DB3 manual say. Everything else you can tape off so nothing shorts. Once it's installed, if there's something that doesn't work (after you've double-checked your install) you can try to hardwire just that(those) connection(s) and see if that takes care of it. For just the standard install, if everything works according to the Type 2 diagram, you won't need diodes/relays. My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Ok cool. I did a little more research, and it looks like I might have to install a couple relays to help with the stupid passlock wires on the Colorado. But it might not be necessary, so I'll try the easy way first :). It will probably be a little while before I can attempt the install, but I will let you know how it turns out when I finish.
