Can Anyone Explain the Viper 5806v Shut Off Switch?

So I ordered a Viper 5806v off of Amazon and noticed something odd. Anyone notice that the unit in the 2nd image doesn't have a RS shut off switch input? There was not a switch included either, although all instructions and documentation require that this be connected. Does anyone have any experience with something like this?

from last i was told by a viper trainer they are gonna just wipe out the line over the next year to 2 years and just have the ds4 units. Glad they took of that stupid on/off switch, be surprised by how many people get confused by a switch that just says on/off. Not really a DEI fan anyways33 years as a installer now just a retired old guy. Favorite thing to install/topic are remote starts/car alarms. Stop using test lights!!!

So do I have a knock off model, or is this something that DEI actually manufactured. The customer service rep denied that it was a DEI unit, but I question that person's knowledge. Thanks again.

As all current automatic vehicles have a built-in neutral safety switch and or a brake input requirement to start, they are phasing out that function and requiring that either a hood pin switch be installed or a interface module that reads the vehicle OEM hood pin (if equipped) status through data.

DEI eliminated the switch, I believe for cost reduction. Newer units don’t have a switch. As stated by Mgoetz74, this switch was a point of confusion for users. I used a jumper plug in many installs to keep the switch terminals always on.   Now the systems are placed in “garage mode” (I.e., remote start disabled) using the button on the control center--a better approach in my opinion. It looks like you have a newer unit with the rechargeable LED 2-way remote. It does not sound like this is a knockoff.Lectric Guy
