Hi, I just got a new High Output alternator 180amp. and there are two wires from the alternator to like a block distribution, and there is another Wire from the battery to the distribution, but the Gauge is only like 8 gauge or less and I want to Put 4 gauge, and I want to make sure im doing it right, what i want to do is instead of going from the alternator to the distribution, One 4 gauge wire from the alternator to the battery, and one from the battery to the distribution. Is that Right? and Can i Use the same kind of wire of the one i use to my amps?. thank you for your help////

only replace wire to the original spots that they go, don't modify where the alternator wires are run other then replacing them with a bigger gauge wire, your power wire for your amps is fine, just make sure its not near anything hot because it will melt

Just replace all existing wires w/ the same gauge wire of your choice.  Do not remove "runs" made by the manufacturer.  If it is a high output alt, I would use 1/0g wire.
