2004 Chevrolet Avalanche Car Stereo Wiring

Hello, I hope I am in the right place for this topic. I couldn't locate any information regarding car stereo wiring for a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche 1500 (Base Trim, 4x4, 5.3L, Naturally Aspirated). That being said, I am here requesting wiring diagrams/information on the car stereo wiring. More specifically I have been having trouble locating a suitable source for constant voltage to retain memory settings in the head unit. Ive tried several different stereos and wiring harnesses with no solution. Currently the only source of power is through an ignition accessory spot in the fuse box.eRok

As geepherder said, you can find a 12V+ constant wire in your ignition harness. It is a large red wire, but you should also have an orange wire in the stereo wiring harness that is constant 12V+. If it is dead, you have a blown fuse.~wirewise~ Verify all wiring with your meter before making any connections!

And that blown fuse is in the underhood fuse box. In the corner of the box nearest drivers fender and rear of the truck.

Thannks for the replies... I have tried taping into the ignition source and i cant seem to be able to fully shut off my head unit as i can still see some back lighting in the receiver and it drains my battery. Ive tested the two orange wires coming from the factory radio harness and 1 is showing a .35 volts and the other when vehicle is running showing 7 volts. I cant seem to find a fuse for the radio anywhere either.eRok

RDO is what the fuse is labeled. You initially said you needed a constant wire. Now it seems like you are looking for a switched source. Does the Air Conditioner control have a 6 pin plug with larger wires than the other plug? If so, brown wire is switched.

ok cool ill look into the links provided. To clear up any confusion I was after a constant source that doesn't keep the radio on all the time but will save the settings, As for the fuse situation, i found it, 30 amp under the hood to be fine. Also I have the switched source figured out. Just want to be able to save my presents so i dont have to start over every-time i turn the truck on & not drain the battery in the mean time. ThankseRok
