Relay for LED Lights -- posted image.
Hello all.
Looking for some help on this. I have some LED lights on the front of my car that turn on with the cars ignition. I want the same lights to flash when the alarm arms, disarms, and alarms. I'm wondering what is the best way to achieve this. Right now I have a relay set up to do this but I've noticed that when the car is on and I turn the parking lights on the the relay heats up to around 130/140 degrees. I did put a diode on the relay with the band side of the diode toward the 12v side of the relay. The relay is brand new so I doubt is relay failure. I've included a diagram of what I have connected so far. Any suggestion on how to do a better setup would be greatly appreciated.
Git'r done

Your relay wiring is spot on. What is the current draw of your lights? What is the rated current capacity of the relay? Does the relay heat up without the battery connected to terminal 87 while the parking lights are on (coil energized)?
