I recently purchased a 1988 mid-sized sedan Cadillac Deville. I need to remove the radio but do not want to rip it out. I want to correctly remove the radio. This car looks brand new and I want to be extra careful with it and want to know what part of the dash  I need to remove in order to get to back of the unit to unhook everything and unscrew it from the lock stem. It is not full-size which we call a "boat", but a MID-sized with is the shorter model Caddy with fewer options, etc. I can upload a picture is necessary. Thanks. Man, in this url there are step by step instructions to remove the stereo and speakers of your car (I own a '94 sedan de ville and believe me, this cars' stereo is such a pain to modify...;)

I hope it's useful, and good luck.

My pleasure! I'm glad that you found the site useful... if you have any kind of question about your caddy ( even if it's not related to it's sound system), let me know... I have lots of useful cadillac links! Factory Radio Removal on an '88 Cadillac - Last Post -- posted image.
