hello does anyone know if the amp in a 2002 Lincoln LS needs to be retained? I'm installing a whole new system which includes stereo, speakers, 4 channel, monoblock, and subwoofers. I want to just install the new amps hopefully without having to buy a exspensive bypass harness or anything. can I just leave the factory amp unplugged? and crutchfield recommends a 12 volt to 5volt converter (Axxess-AFDI) which they say is used for adding a new radio to an amplified system to eliminate turn on pop. but I'm not using the factory amp so will I even need that extra ?...and if there is anything else anybody can tell me about this install that might surprise me I would appreciate it. I install electronics all the time but always get stuck when cars have factory amplifiers. thank you any info would help.

no you can do a new 4 channel and not us the factory deck. The 12 volt to 5 volt adapter would be if you are using the factory deck so it doesn't pop when you turn it on/off or change sources
33 years as a installer now just a retired old guy. Favorite thing to install/topic are remote starts/car alarms. Stop using test lights!!!

The amplifier is only for the factory subwoofer. All 4 speaker wires are behind the radio. Purchase a Metra 70-1771 or equivalent.

awesome thank you. so I dont need the Metra 70-5519? the 5519 is just to integrate with the factory amp? because the 5519 comes with extra harnesses. all I need is the 1771?
