I purchased a KenWood KDC-350U deck yesterday, then installed it properly using crimp connectors and neatly secured everything away. I fire up the unit and begin fine tuning the audio settings and got it sounding good to my preferences. My problem is that for the first five minutes the unit sounds awesome, then it begins to distort the audio and it gradually gets worse and worse until it just sounds god awful. I’ve gone through every setting on the unit and have checked every connection and can’t find any issues. I called KENWOOD tech support and described it to them, and they couldn’t come up with any explanation other than the unit itself being bad and to return it, but I don’t want to give up quite yet. Is there anything else I could be missing? Thanks in advance.

As much as I would be the same way looking for a problem in the vehicle because electronics have gotten so good over the years, I do believe they are right. Sounds like something inside is heated up and creating a problem. Id the unit is powered down for a couple hours does the whole process start over?
