I connected the power inputs in reverse and my amplifier made a popping sound and smoke came out is there a chance I can save the amplifier?

If it was properly fused it would not have hurt it much. There is a diode across power and ground, this is known as a reverse polarity protection diode. It may have only shorted that diode and burnt a trace on the circuit board. Have you opened it up to see if you can see what may have smoked?

If the magic smoke that makes it work has been released, you 100% need to replace the amplifier.
Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Because you connected it backwards with too large or no fuse.
