Just picked up a 17 Toyota Highlander Xle. Push button start. Will be using a idatalink Alca for bypass and would like to use a dei branded remote start. Any recommendations? Any weird things about the Highlander I should know when installing? Would it be just the same to use the Alca and 3x lock? Not too concerned about range any further than the factory remote.

A few things.
First, with PTS the engine will shutdown when you open a door. This is
normal and happens with all brands of bypass modules.
If you don't need range any further than what the Factory remotes provide,
go with just the ADS AL-CA. No need for the extra expense and wiring
involved with a R/S unit.
Either way, you will need to flash the ADS AL-CA with the correct firmware.
Being as this is not a KLON type install, you could just find an online
seller that will flash the ADS AL-CA with the correct firmware prior to
shipment. For a StandAlone install, ADS AL(RS)-TL7 is needed. If you
went with a Viper ( or DEI ) R/S system then DBI AL(DL)-TL7 would be
required. If you wanted to flash the bypass module yourself you would
need an ADS USB cable, a PC running IE and iDatalink WEB access.
Soldering is fun!
