Thee are literally zero dangers in shorting the negative and positive pins of the alarm brain as there is no power. All it will do is drain any caps on the board and likely clear up any weirdness you may be experiencing. Like I said above, it worked for me.

On the display of the remote, very top, dead center, there is a picture of a remote. Just to the left of it there is this symbol (( and to the right of it there is the same but wavy. Are the symbols to the left of it visible? If not, go through the menu from the remote and turn them on. The symbol to the left indicate audible confirmations, and the wavy ones to the right indicate vibration confirmation.

In the center, top of the remote's screen there are the two "((" symbols just to the left of the black remote icon and nothing to the immediate right side of the black remote icon accept all the way to the right edge there is the battery level icon . The only thing I can figure is a defective speaker / beeper in the remote. If you are familiar with the menu settings within the remote, look through it and see if you can turn on the vibration feature. If it will vibrate but will not make sounds, it is the speaker / beeper in the remote.

I will have to get a second opinion as to what possible dangers it poses.
I don't see any possible dangers as long as the battery is disconnected to begin with.
If you are still paranoid, just pop out the Viper fuse and only ground to the Viper side of the fuse lead, thereby issolating it from the rest of the car.
2nd opinion complete!

Perhaps just disconnect power and ground from the 5706V by disconnecting the 8 pin at the brain and jumper the power and ground pins on the alarm brain together for about ten minutes.
I shorted the positive to the ground wires on the main harness and still the fob does not sound when the alarm is triggered.
I will next try setting the fob to vibrate when the alarm is triggered.
