Hello Folks,
I recently installed a Cole-Hersee 24200 latching solenoid in my 1956 Chevy to act as a remote battery cutoff switch. In order to maintain radio presets and other assorted settings, I have a memory-saver device (2 amp auto-reset breaker) wired across the primary leads.
This setup works fine, except I have no way to tell whether the solenoid is open or closed. Accidentally trying to start the car with the solenoid open causes the memory saver breaker to trip, thus losing all of my settings. I need a light to indicate whether the solenoid is open or closed. Obviously I can't just connect an indicator light to the switched side of the solenoid, since there will always be some current present due to the memory saver.
Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

I've never done this before, but how about using a small backup battery with a diode in series to keep your memory settings? DEI has a backup battery for alarms, but you might be able to just use a small sealed battery like those used for fire panels.
Then you could connect an LED with a series resistor to the switched contact so it would only light up whenever the contacts are closed.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Would it be possible to run the radio's yellow wire directly to the battery?
