Yes Mr Akimoto finally got the Avital 2200 installed in his '99 Miata. He wants all of you to know this is a miserable difficult car to work on. Even a very little midget would have a tough time working on ths baby.

His major problem was figuring out what a kick panel was. He didn't realize that this was a little removable panel on the drivers side of the car nestled up against the little wall between the door and the engine compartment. After all, Mr Akimoto isn't American!

Anyway he found the kick panel and was able to make nearly all of his connections. He hasn't hooked up the DEI 508D, the horn honk, or the flashing parking lights yet. The last requires a connection to a RED / black wire in the kick, but there are two! How does one tell which is the correct one? The horn honk requires a GREEN/ orange or a GREEN/ YELLOW located on the steering column. He's still looking for them!

Finally he would like to make a suggestion to the pros here. Some fellow told Mr Akimoto to look for a two-pin connector, but Mr Akimoto didn't have a clue what that was. When using the jargon of the trade, many of you should try to define your terms for the uninitiated.

Ciao

I've worked on the 99 Miata and it wasn't as bad as a 2000 Integra. Any way, the RED / BLACK parking light wire you should be able to find against the kick panel otherwise you should look at the dash dimmer control knob and the wire is behind there as well. If there are two wires, then you should really tell Mr. Akimoto to learn to use a light tester or DMM to figure out which wire it is that he should connect otherwise you are in some deep Sushi if you know what i mean. The HORN wire will be a (-) trigger wire you should be able to find this wire among the other wires coming down from the key cylinder along side the steering column.
