Hello,
I have 2 12 volt batteries running 24 volts. Can you wire 1 12 volt alternator to each battery to keep them charged?
Thanks,
Jason

If you had a way to physically and electrically isolate the chassis of the second alternator from the frame/ground of the main alternator you could. That would require plastic or composite bushings at the 2 mounting points of the second alternator. The case of the second alternator would need to be electrically connected to the Output terminal of the main alternator. You would also need to build a voltage divider network for the sense wires. It will be tons of extra work.
Is it a 24 volt start only system with the rest of the vehicle running at 12 volts? Can you not locate a 24 volt alternator for it?

Thank you for the reply. This is on a robot platform that has a mower attachment, I work for a car salvage yard and have a shelf full of old GM 3 wire alternators that cost next to nothing to me. I was hoping it would be easier but oh well. I'll just get a 24 volt alternator for it.
