Is there anyway to find out what car/stereo deck will bring up or down power antenna only when you listen to a radio station.
Ex. If I listen to a radio station power antenna will go up and then if I decided to switch over to bluetooth/CD the power antenna will go down.
Thanks

If installed properly, pretty much every new aftermarket car stereo on the market will raise the power antenna only when the tuner is on and lower it when you switch to any other source.

Most decks have only an amplifier turn on wire. Alpine decks have both an antenna control wire and a separate amplifier control wire.

Most have done away with. Of the Pioneer, Sony, kenwood and JVC units I have on my board at the moment, none of those have a dedicated antenna wire. Just talked to my installer and he said the only thing he has seen in the last few years is Alpine.

Thank you for all your info really appreciated. I am thinking of buying this unit by Sony MEX-GS620BT for my 1998 Toyota Rav4 and I'm also buying a power antenna to go with it. I just like the idea of having your antenna extended while your listening to radio station if not it should stay down. Please let me know if this is possible.

According to this info on Sony.com, it has a power antenna output.

I have the gs620 on my display. It has only a blue/white. Granted the harness may be from the previous radio because I did not notice there was a separate wire for antenna. But the manual that is in the box that the radio came out of has only a blue/white. I will try to probe the empty slot tomorrow to see if there is an antenna wire.

I have decided to re-use my Alpine UTE-42BT instead but I have to install this brand new power antenna for my 1998 Toyota Rav4 today. It works, antenna goes up when i select radio and it goes down when I set to Bluetooth/USB and so on. I connect my power antenna wire to blue wire off the deck harness. Thank you guys.
