Technical question regarding the electric screen. I love the Feature on my best mates 2010 model which lowers his screen completely when turning his bike off and returning it to a preset or last height level when he starts it, but mine is a 2008 model.
I'm trying to first fathom how the Gen 2's presets etc work. I want to at least know how to get the screen to lower with turning the engine off.
Then if possible figure out how to get it to return to last raised position when turning it on.
I've been comparing the schematics from a Gen1 "my bike 2008-2010" and Gen2 my mates bike 2010-onward. The main and only difference that I can see in the schematic diags is in the gen1 dash there are 4 less pins being utalised, 2 for the button on the left handlebar cluster for the mode button "which I dont have" as opposed to manually pressing the dash button, and other two pins are involving the linked braking and ambient temperature sensors. I can not find anywhere a schematic for the guts of the dash to see if there is an eprom in there controlling the windscreen etc, are the presets stored and governed by the dash or an ECU else where in the bikes bowels of wiring or some other mystical way where unicorns and fairy's live?!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am acquiring the dash and wiring harness from a 2016 model, and am already aware that linked braking, ECO mode and traction control etc wont work unless I get the ECU's, later model ABS pump and the "proprietary" KIPASS security system that is with that wrecked 2016 bike, I know right off the bat that the linked brake light wont come on at all, I think I can wire up a temp sensor for the ambient air temp and if nothing else the dash will be in better condition to my 14 year old sun cracked instrument cluster/dash and will have a cool white back light and screen as opposed to my current bright orange retina burning one. Am only getting the wiring harness in case the plug into the back of the dash is different to my current one, so can just cut and join wires as the color coding is the same. but enough rambling. can someone with experience with these bikes advise me on how to at least make up a work around and get my screen to lower upon turning bike off if replacing the dash doesn't magically do the trick.
Any advice, links anyone can share would be great.........
Marc
