I am looking for the wiring diagram for the Infinity amplifier on my 99 LHS. I have the stereo diagram but not the amp.

Directechs does not have different wire colors for the amplifier. They do tell you the amp is in the passenger kick panel. Usually they would have both listed. There is a good chance the wire colors will be the same as what you have for the radio.

Try this: http://connectors.dcctools.com/details.htm?id=10590 and this: http://connectors.dcctools.com/details.htm?id=10592
Info from here: http://connectors.dcctools.com/home.htm Used 2000 for vehicle though, wasn't showing info on one connector for 1999 MY.

Using the amp stereo and speakers as a portable system. Thought I had everything connected as in the original car but for some reason the stereo shuts off if the volume is to high.

With it playing very near the point of shutting off, check the voltage at the amplifier. Not the turn on wire, the power wire.
