Adding a factory navi radio and factory backup camera to a Nissan Versa. This model never had that option so itís not pre-wired for that. Got the parts from the junkyard along with pigtails but will have to make a 4 wire harness from the trunk mounted camera to the radio. I see in the wiring diagram as well as on the radio pigtail that the black #1 CAMERA SHIELD and the green #2 CAMERA + wires are covered by a shield.

What is the purpose of the shield and would I have to find such wire as well?

Any type of noise that your camera cable picks up is going to cause a shadow type effect on your image.
- Video +
- Power
- Solder the shield to the Video - near the camera connection
You should end up with a good picture on the monitor
