Hello guys and gals of the forum. I recently bought a new mono block amplifier, rated at 1250 watts rms, 1ohm stable. I had it hooked up to 2 12" 4ohm dvc subwoofers, of different brand name. I contacted the company i purchased the amp from, (its less than 3 mos. Old,) and was asked by their tech support if i had used 2 different brands of speakers in my setup. I informed him i did, and that both were of the same impedance, and that i had wired them in series. He said that because i used 2 diff brands, that the imp loads werent the same, and that the amp had received an impedance of lower than the amp could handle. This sounds like nonsense to me, and the guy is really trying to make me look stupid, iam assuming, to avoid honoring the warranty. Am i correct, or is this actually true?
Thanks for any light you can shed my way! Oh. Yes the amp quit, which is why all this took place. Went into protection mode, and wouldnt come out. Never got hot, it just quit.

I might be wrong, but doesn't sound right to me either. I understand that the 2 subs were wired in series to 8ohm then in parallel to the amp , correct? So the amp would have seen a 4 ohm load. Even with some weird mismatching impedance response from sub to sub throughout the frequency range, I don't know how that would have caused an issue. I would love to hear from someone smarter than me to chime in on the theory here that mismatching subs would cause a blown amp.
