I’ve done everything I can to try to set the features with my remote, even tried a suggestion found on here to use the 1-way remote instructions. Nothing works. My button presses don’t do anything at all. I know the vehicle should be disarmed but what else? Key on? Foot on brake? The manual isn’t very helpful.

Quick question : Are these the remotes that came with the system? If yes, they should come paired with the CM900. That means that with power and ground applied and the antenna plugged in, it should respond to a LOCK and UNLOCK command from the remotes. You will hear an internal ( Parking Light ) relay click when you press the lock button. I have a +12V 120V AC power pack transformer that I use to bench test new systems prior to install. I just connect the + and - to the CM900 brain, plug in the antenna and test the remotes Lock and Unlock buttons. If they are not already paired, you must do that first, prior to attempting entering programming mode.

Yea they are the remotes that came with the kit and they are paired. All other remote functions work properly.

OK, that's good. Here is a link to the full CM900 Install Guide :
   https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=1428
The instructions start on Page 45. Depending on which type remote you have there are instructions for each type. It is a bit difficult and is easiest to follow if you have a test LED light hooked up to the CM900 Parking Light output and a buzzer or the vehicles horn connected to the CM900 Horn output. Can't help too much other than that, I have the OP-500 Programmer which makes it a breeze.

The system works just fine. I’m trying to change the engine sensing and crank time (it’s installed on a diesel) and I can’t access the function programming Using the key press/holds outlined in the manual. I don’t want to have to buy the OP-500 if I can supposedly change these with the remotes that came with the kit.

That's good that the system works fine. The antenna is good and the remotes are paired. The CM900 responds to a Lock command. My suggestion with the LED test light and buzzer or horn connection wasn't to check those outputs but to aid in unit programming. The visual and audible responses can help when making changes.
If I remember correctly, getting the two required button pressed exactly at the same time was critical. It should work, it just takes practice and patience.
You should be able to make changes to Menu 2 with the remotes. Engine Sensing Menu 2, Feature 10 to Option 2. With the Diesel Timer Delay, Menu 2, Feature 2, you will only be able to select a 7 or 12 second delay. You won't be able to use Option 2 to set an exact number of seconds ( other than the Default 12 ) because you can't change the Special Option Groups with the remotes. You need the OP-500 for that.
You might also want to set the Remote Start Runtime to something longer than the Default 15 minutes with a Diesel.
If we lived closer, I'd meet up with you and let you use the OP-500. I've done that before with the OP-500 and my BitWriter.

Thanks for the video. I’m doing the exact same button presses to try to get it to accept programming but I’m not getting the park light flash to confirm the first or second button hold combo.
I know the system should be disarmed but should the door be open/closed? Anything else that must be done before the button combos are performed?

I spent an hour last night trying every button press technique in the book. I’ll try again today. Really appreciate your offer of lending the OP-500. I might have to break down and buy one…

You ever figure it out? I'm having same problem with my G15 remote.
Update I did figure it out and the video posted above was pretty much spot on.
