I bought a 8" Kicker Solo-Baric on eBay, and when it came in, I saw that it was 2 ohms. Not what I expected. My amp (Jensen JXP340) is 2 ohm stable, but only in stereo mode. I want to run it in mono mode. What kind of options do I have besides buying another amp or woofer. Could this damage the speaker if I try it anyway? Thanks.

It probably wouldn't damage the speaker but it could damage the amplifier.  Usually the amp will either overheat first and shut off automatically, or if it has overcurrent protection it will also shut off automatically.

As far as I know all Solo-Barics are DVC subs, which means they have two voice coils and therefore two separate sets of speaker inputs.  Does your sub look like t his?  Or does it just have one red terminal and one black terminal for the whole thing?

What I think you have is the 2-ohm voice coil DVC solo-baric, which will actually work out perfectly for your setup.  The two voice coils will be wired up in series, for a single 4-ohm speaker load.  Since your amp is 4-ohm stable when bridged, you'll hook the left positive speaker output to the single positive speaker wire from the sub.  Then the right negative speaker ouput goes to the single negative speaker wire from the sub.  Here's a diagram of what it should look like:

No, it's the older style (round) solo-baric. And it only has one voice coil.

The only way you can safely run your subwoofer with that amp is to hook it up as a 2 ohm stereo load, but you'll only be using half of the amp's available power.  Still, it'sbetter than nothing.  It's a piece of cake to wire it up--just hook positive and negative up to one of the amp's 2 output channels.  If you got a 2nd identical sub it could go on the other channel, too, but for now you'll just have to stick with using half of the amp.  Any other way to hook it up would probably overheat the amp.
