Hi everyone! My first post here. I have 1997 Ranger Splash with a 2.3 and a 5 speed that I love driving. It's a sweet little truck that costs next to nothing to keep on the road.
I recently acquired a factory Ford/Clairon touch screen navi stereo from a 2008 Escape. I know the stereo worked well in the donor vehicle. My question is making it work in my little Ranger.
Mounting and wiring it into my truck doesn't scare me in the least. My question, for anyone here who had walked my path, is how to turn on the stereo. I downloaded a factory service manual for the stereo based on the Ford part number. My problem is that the power is controlled via MS-CAN. Quite simply, how do I make it play nice with my 11 year older Ranger? There are 2 wires on the stereo for the MS-CAN signal MS-CAN_L and MS-CAN_H.
Many many thankyous in advance for whatever assistance anybody can offer.

I can't offer any specifics, but if there's no ready made adapter, you might be able to build a "signal sniffer" with an Arduino. You would need a known good donor vehicle. You should be able to get what you need through the OBD II port. Then in theory you could replicate the signal on the CAN wires at the radio when the accessory circuit is powered.
Again, I've never done this and wouldn't know how, but that's a preliminary working theory.
