Hello,
I have a 2006 Tacoma with the Viper DS4VP remote start and security system installed by an authorized dealer. The system was working great for years, no issues whatsoever. A couple of weeks ago I had to replace to starter on the truck due to normal wear and tear. I did the starter replacement myself, pretty simple job. I disconnected the battery for about 4 hours to get the starter replaced and completed a couple of other quick electrical system maintenance and cleaning.
When complete I reconnected everything and tested everything to make sure everything worked fine. The security system works fine, the Viper SmartStart app works fine, the only issue I'm having is the truck starts when I use remote start, either using my Viper 7857V remote or the SmartStart app, the truck starts normal runs for a bit 1 to 2 minutes and then the alarm goes off and the truck shuts down.
The only different thing I have done was replace the truck starter which is nowhere close to the alarm and remote start modules. These are inside the truck deep inside the dashboard.
I called Viper tech support and explained what was happening and they told me to do a hard reset and relearn because sometime the modules don't like to be disconnected from power and they get "codes hung up".
I made an appointment with my local authirized dealer and got the hard reset and flashed the unit again and completed the necessary programing.
After the tech was done, I started the truck, and it started right away with no issues. Ran for the whole 30 minutes that I have programmed for "run time".   It all worked fine. This was done on Saturday.
Yesterday (Sunday) morning, I tried to use my remote start and it's doing the same thing. It starts, runs for a minute or two and then the alarm goes off and the truck shuts down.
Any help on how I could figure out what is going on would be greately appreciated. The Dealer seems to be not very interested in helping me figure out what is wrong, they looked at my system when I was there Saturday, but they say it all looks good and that there should not be any issues with it.
They're not the authorized dealer that installed the system. That was another authorized dealer when I was stationed in Florida. I am living in Tennessee now.
Thank you.
Rick

Without knowing much, my first instinct is to check if there's a hood pin installed. If there is, examine it and determine if an adjustment needs to be made or if the lead could be touching ground (metal).

Checked the hood pin. Installed correctly, properly grounded, clean, and working properly.

Ah, well it was worth checking. Some other Vipers will flash the parking lights a number of times and you can reference a table in the manual to see what caused shutdown.
I think yours you have to watch for flashes on the DS4 unit itself. Hopefully you know where it is. Here's a link to the manual: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=1435
