Hi all,
I have a 2007 Honda Civic with a Viper DS4+ Analog paired with a 7656v remote (1 way) and this thing has been giving me some trouble in remote starting the car.
Historically, it was able to start and lock the doors then lost the ability to start. It was taken back awhile ago and the auto start worked for the start of the last winter and then stop working correctly. It would start the car and run for 3 seconds, then turn off. It would do this 3 times.
This week I disconnected the main battery to see if it would reset something. Now, the door locks don't work though the module shows that it receives the signal (flashes orange) and I hear clicks but the locks don't move.
The car still tries to start the car 3 times and gives up. I've checked the fuses in the DS4+ and they are all good. Plugs are all in correctly. Remote has new battery.
The last strange thing, I can't get the antenna to get into a flashing blue light mode.
Anyone have an idea? Will a soft reset help?

Do you get a flashing key icon when you try to remote start? If so that's a bypass failure. You can place the key in the ignition switch and leave it off. Then try again.
If it starts, that confirms your bypass module is not working properly.

Thanks for the idea.
No key icon when trying to remote start. Also tried it with the key in with no success. 3 strikes and out.
Also tried it via Viper smart start app on my phone and it tries then just shows a message failed start.
Seems strange that it lost the ability to lock/unlock just from the battery being was disconnected for awhile. The viper module does flash when it receives all the commands.
I'm leaning towards something with the virtual tach and it not learning (if it is set as virtual, doesn't say in the app).

If you had this installed professionally, the best thing would be to schedule an appointment for the shop to fix it for you. It should be covered under warranty.

if your car battery died, or had low battery voltage, it could have wiped firmware on the ds4. try a soft reset, unplug the 12 pin black harness. press and hold the programing button and connect the 12pin blk harness. wait 3 seconds until the led on solid orange, and release button. led will turn blue and solid red. while led is red, insert key, and turn to "ON". led will go out and this is complete reporgraming. *(should work assuming the firmware didn't get wiped)*

I'm here because I have the exact same issue.
I just got this installed through BestBuy, already had to warranty out the first faulty Viper DS4VB unit to get it working. Now, after only using the device twice, I had unhooked the battery doing work on other parts of my car irrelevant to the Viper, but now I get t6he exact same issue as OP. I have a 3rd BestBuy warranty appointment, but its not for a few weeks, and I am desperately trying to get it working ASAP.
There isn't much info online (much less from Viper's website) about how to do tach re-learning, or other methods to get the Viper to properly start the vehicle, as its doing the 3-starts in a row but only runs for 3 seconds each attempt before giving up, and the bluetooth app says the same warning.
I DO NOTICE that my blue vallet/antenna LED won't blink after car battery has been disconnected, until I disconnect the little cable to it, and re=plug it back in. Then the blue light blinks as it should. I don't know if this error is something simple I can fix at home, or if the entire unit is faulty (AGAIN). I'm hoping to find a solution here. Be it tach learning, vallet mode, not sure, but hoping to find out here.
EDIT: If I touch the antenna/valet/main control button, the blue light gets stuck ON, and only me unplugging the wire to it will make it stop. I tried a few times to do a tach learn, but any touch of the control button and it stays on, so I guess its a faulty main unit. The remote control button still works fine and tries starting the vehicle 3 times, but something isn't working. It can't be valet mode, because the remote start fob starts the car 3 times even if the blue light is stuck on.
Very frustrating, bought this a few months back, have had to go to bestBuy like 6 times already, now for a 4th "warranty". No wonder the BB techs called Viper "trash". Even my replacement unit is defective.

I've had success with Viper in the past but never tried their digital systems like the DS4s.
Since the Audiovox buyout, I've switched over to Compustar. I love the Blade cartridges and being able to flash modules at home.

Yes, exact same behavior wtih valet and such. I haven't had a chance to try the soft reset as the car has not been back at my place yet (Son's girlfriends) but that's my next shot.
