Hello
I have a 2020 Kia Soul w/ standard remote keyless entry and key start. Basically this exact car. It has not had the anti-theft update from Kia. I followed these directions exactly. These instructions basically mirror those from Compustar with the exception of Compustar including wiring for an immobilizer, if the vehicle has one.
My problem: The Compustar remote will not lock or unlock the doors. I get a flash from the remote upon pressing "lock" or "unlock". Horn honks and lights flash. I can hear clicking in the Compustar module. It's responding to the signal and acting like it is doing what is asked, there is just no movement of the lock.
Remote start does work, as does remote stop.
Compustar CS4900-S with Blade AL. Blade AL flashed to 2020 Soul as provided by the weblink software.
I checked all connections. I adjusted some options in the settings for both the blade and the compustar module with no change EXCEPT I believe I did get a lock on auto-start to perform once after setting "relock on auto-start" option.
original remote lock/unlock functions normally. The car does indeed disable the "unlock" function on R/S as noted. So if the car is locked with remote start, I cannot unlock it without stopping the engine.
It would seem to me that this is an issue of the signal from the CAN bus to the vehicle (I double checked the wiring there). What I am unable to do is verify this signal since I don't have an o-scope. Such a short duration low voltage signal would likely not register on my multimeter I don't think.
any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like someone moved this to a new thread? I guess because we don't like old threads. Even if it is on the exact same topic. My apologies.
My post makes more sense if viewed in conjunction with the "2020 kia soul remote start pictorial" thread since that's what I'm referencing above and it's the same install. Otherwise it may be confusing what I'm talking about. Sorry. I'm new to the forum not sure how to tie this "new" topic in with the one I'm referencing. I'd edit my original post but I don't think I'm allowed to.
Thanks again

OK. So the R/S function works, you can R/S the engine and also shutdown the R/S'd engine with the Compustar remotes. It should also shutdown with a Brake Pedal press. The vehicles Horn and Parking Lights are working via Compustar control.
A few questions :
1. Did the Blade-AL program exactly as per the guide. You should have gotten the three Red flashes at Step 2 and done the button press at Step 3.
2. Does the Soul have the Factory Alarm with hood pin? Test to verify that you can sit inside the car, lock the doors a few times, wait a couple of minutes and pull the Hood Release.
If it does have the Factory Alarm Hood Pin, try a R/S and then pop the hood to verify engine will shut down.
3. Did you set the Compustar to Tach Mode and do a successful Tach Learn?
Questions 2 and 3 are to see if the CAN supplied data (Data Tach and Hood Status) is actually getting to the Blade-AL and causing the expected results. As you mentioned, it would appear that the problem area is the CAN data. You have double checked these connections, CAN High to CAN High, CAN Low to CAN Low) and they should be properly soldered and insulated.
Have you tried doing a Factory Reset on the Blade Cartridge? Shown at the bottom of Page 46 Install Guide. This will not lose the firmware program flash (BLADE-AL(DL)-HK13), just reset the cartridge. Then do the Programming steps again and see if the locks work from the Compusstar remotes.
Soldering is fun!

Hmmm. It's interesting to see Fortin lists 2 sets of CAN wires (CAN 1 HI, CAN 1 LO, CAN 2 HI, CAN 2 LO).

Yep, see that often. Fortin designed their modules with two CAN interfaces. iDatalink modules have only a single CAN. Some vehicles have more than two CAN systems. Any way, with two CAN interfaces available, Fortin can handle things in a different way.
Check out iDatalink Blade-AL FM8 solution for a 2015 - 2020 Ford F150 regular key. Very interesting programming process.

Hello. I just wanted to say thanks for the quick response. I wanted to post an update because I hate when people post their problems and never follow up with the solution. Turns out this was installer error - I had not properly programmed the blade module when I put it in. I did a reset/reflash and reinstalled it and it is working now. Or at least it was for about a week. Last couple of days I've had the same issue with the doors not locking/unlocking with the remote, but it is intermittent. I am going to pull it all out to see if I have an error code on the blade or not. I can't seem to figure out a pattern as to when it fails.
FYI - I did verify factory alarm. Also, I did not do the tach learn as according to the instructions tachless install was default. It seems to work fine without over cranking.
thank you
