Ok i recently purchased an alpine CVA-1003 lcd unit and i got it installed along with an audiovox dvd/cd player....now everything works on the alpine lcd unit except i can't get into the setup menu......i've tried the brake sequence and it still didn't work....i took it to a ship and this guy put a toggle switch on it and that didn't work.....after he messed with the wires and tried installing the switches on it to no avail he finally told me that i have a bad unit.......i really don't believe that as i purchased the unit brand new in box and everything else works perfectly.....i'd hate to have to take this unit out...buy another one...and pay another 300 bux to get it installed....when i press the setup button and hold it.....it beeps....but no setup screen......please help me....i would really appreciate any and all help as this unit has gave me a headache for a week now.

As far as I know the Alpine units only accept video inputs from their own DVD players. Once you enter the DVD menu, it will require you to go through the sequence of the park brake/foot brake. Did the installer actually hook it up legit in your caar ( you can only view it while in park ) ?

yes but its not necessarily the dvd player...i can't get into my setup on the alpine unit AT ALL.....i did the brake sequence and nothing.....the installer put switches on the brake wires and still nothing....what else could it be....i doubt very seriously that its a defective unit.

The only thing that I can think of is that the ground or the + is not registering on the Alpine. Try finding another 12 volt source and ground for the sequence. Also, double check you have the proper sequence for the Alpine system ( just make sure that's all ).

with all alpine radios you have to hook up the foot brake parking brake thing in order to even get in to the setup menu.
this is what i do when installing alpine screens ... first on the yellow /black wire i hook up to the cold side of the foot brake wire. and for the yellow/blue wire i hook up a normal valet style toggle switch with one wire hooked up the the yellow/ blue wire and the other wire from switch i ground and here the sequence
the unit has to see the switch on three times and on the third it has to stay on. now the sequence, is
so what you do is push and hold the brake and push the toggle on- off - on- off- on. left in the on position then let go of brake and your good togo until you turn off unit, after you bypass the video block you have also bypasses the setup menu block. so hook the wires up as stated above, and do the sequence and then press and hold the setup button on the top of the screen for a few seconds and than let go this will let you get into the setup menu.. you use the numbers keys to change between menus and as well as to change between features int he menu meaning if you want to go to menu 2 option 2 you press the menu key after entering setup to go to the second screen then press the number 2 again to advance down in the second screen to the other options.... but do the bypass that is the only way to get into the setup email me if need more help.
make sure you have positive going to the yellow/black wire and negative going to the yellow/blue wire..... so the foot brake should be hooked up to the yellow/black and the yellow blue should be hooked up the the toggle. that if that does not work you do have a bad unit... sorry

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.
