98 Expedition Door Panels

Looking at various posts on this site.  There has been issues with glassin factory door panels.  However, I looked at Apline's web site and they have demo vehicle with some very detailed documentation and pictures that show how this can be done.   They basically roughed up the plastic door panel and drilled holes all over so the glass would adhere.   My question is would this technique work on vinyl?  I have a mixture on vinyl and plastic on the door panels of my truck.    I was thinking if I peeled off all the vinyle and build up from there I would not have a problem.   I know we beaten glassin door panels with a dead horse, but something always seems to come up.   Any thoughts?

I would have to agree with peeling it off, Or sanding it, I think I would just take a grinder to it really quick. It seems that the grinder is the best and fastest way to get anything done. Not really but the grinder should take the vinyl off and then prep the surface for fiberglass also. Then drill your holes and build what you are wanting to build.
