I am trying to install an DEI 554T alarm on my 2001 Jeep grand cherokee. I found the TAN/RED wire at the drivers door switch but when the door is open i am getting a solid 7 volts and when the door is shut i get 12. What is up? Will the 554T recognize a (-) trigger when its reading 7? I have my digital volt (+) hooked right to the battery and (-) going to the TAN/RED to test.

What is going on here?

Here is what I have for the Jeep:

There are 4 separate door triggers wire, one for each door.  Use all 4 wires and diode isolate each together.  The drivers door is tan/red at the drivers door lock switch. The passenger door is tan/red at the passengers door lock switch.  The drivers rear door is tan/orange and the passengers rear door is tan / YELLOW at the BCM.

my chart says it is yellow in a two pin connector in the drivers kick and it is. and you must use relays to activate and isolate the door locks.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

Use a DEI 455J for the doorlocks and door trigger. It will allow you to use the underdash light for the door trigger. It gets around the problem of the domelight turning on for 2 seconds when you remote start by providing an output to temporarily interupt the door trigger with a relay.
