My children bought me a vampire model 4040 for fathers day and I am going to install in my 99 f-150. What I need to know is

1. Where is the best place to mount the brain, shock sensor and rf receiver?

2. Is it better to tap into the wiring or attach wires to relays for power door locks?

1. Most installers mount the brain under the driver's side dash, I believe they have an on board shock sensor, so the extra you can mount in the rear of the cab... I personally do not like the big rf receivers so I just put them in the dash by the brain... most put them in the wndow under the headliner....
2. ford is a 5 wire revers polarity locking system.. so you will need a relay but I think they are built in the vampire...   you will have to cut the door lock wires located in the driver kick panel.. pink / YELLOW and pink/green and wire them accordingly.. you may have to purchase an 451m.. its a prewired relay that dei sells... if you need one check ebay for 2 bucks... you will have to cut the starter wire blue/red I think and wire the ignition side to the alarms kill switch and the motor side to the alarm's kill relay.. it should be an orange wire, with a relay attached to it....
for installation info check out directed.com and go to instalation manuals, look up sidewinder 5000esp.. go to the last page and print it out... its basically the same as vampire but it gives you a diagram so you can plan the install
